Biography

Kristin Schimik is a sculptor originally from Michigan, who lives and works in Seattle, Washington. Her ceramic work and mixed media installation explores cosmography with an emphasis on the tactility of form. In 2013, Schimik was awarded a grant from 4Culture
SiteSpecific for the Infinity Loop Project, a outdoor installation located
beside the last remaining structure from the Renton coal mine. Prior to joining the Inscape Arts community in Seattle, she has worked as an Artist in Residence at Pottery Northwest, the Santa Fe Art
Institute, Caldera Arts, the Vermont Studio Center, and the Archie Bray
Foundation for the Ceramic Arts.
